How to Play Blackjack

The main objective of blackjack is to obtain cards that add up to twenty one without going over.  Face cards such as the king, queen, and jack are worth ten points each.  Aces have a higher value of eleven.  If a player is able to acquire and ace and a jack, then the total score adds up to twenty one.

The next step in blackjack is one of the most tricky parts of the game.  The object of playing blackjack is to beat the dealer without going over twenty one.  If the dealer's hand of cards is closer to twenty one than the opponent's hand, then the dealer wins.  However, if the opponent is closer, then they win.  Before the cards are handed out to the players, each player must make a bet or wager.  Next, each player gets two cards given to them by the dealer face up.  The dealer gets one card face up and the other face down.  The player must either stay with the cards that they initially received, or they must ask for another card.  Once all players are satisfied with their hand and have not gone over twenty one, the dealer flips the face down card to reveal their hand.  If the dealer gets a total of sixteen or less, then the dealer has to flip another card for a chance closer to twenty one.  If the player's two cards add up to be twenty one, then they automatically win.  If the player gets an automatic blackjack, then he or she gets one and a half time the wager placed.  However, if the opponent ties the dealer, the player gets their wager back.  If the player gets a higher score than the dealer without going over twenty one, then the player wins the amount equal to their bet.  Like other card games, blackjack is sometimes played with other betting options.  Casinos and even casual games of live blackjack can be played with different betting options.  Some different betting options include Surrender, Early Surrender, and Soft hand.  Surrender is where the player can give up their hand and lose half of the wager or bet.  Early surrender allows the player to surrender before the dealer checks for a blackjack.  A soft hand is a hand that includes an ace.

There are many different ways to play the game of blackjack.  These can vary depending on whether the game is played casually at a party, or at a professional tournament.  With some practice, it can become very easy to play blackjack.  An important tip before playing blackjack is to find out what the rules and regulations are.  Some places are more relaxed on the rules while other places are very strict and play only certain games.  Blackjack is a very easy game to pick up and can provide hours of entertainment.
